Excerpt

After a week of conversations, I hope you felt the healing underneath it all. We didn’t talk to be messy. We talked with purpose—so you could leave this series remembering your worth matters, and the way you see yourself (and the way you see God) shapes what you tolerate.

I know some people roll their eyes at anything that sounds “churchy,” but I’m not speaking from theory. I’m speaking as someone who got tired—tired of pride, tired of embarrassment, tired of living like life was only what I’d been shown. Everything shifted when I realized God cared about who I ended up with, and that I didn’t have to accept manipulative words as if they were love.

There’s a difference between honesty and carelessness. Some things don’t need to be said—especially when a person isn’t in a position to nurture what they’re trying to reach for. Self-editing is maturity.

And if you needed a place to start, this is it: you have a right to say no. No to scraps. No to being boxed in. No to offers that would shrink your future. I only accept from God.

Reflection

I’ve noticed that when my mind is unsteady, I can mistake an “offer” for a blessing just because it was presented confidently. But not every offer is for me, and not every invitation deserves my yes.

I used to laugh things off to avoid discomfort—especially when someone suggested a version of life that didn’t match my dreams. But deep down, I wasn’t just offended. I was waking up. I was realizing, Wait… why would you assume I’d be okay with that? And even if they didn’t mean harm, I still get to choose what I allow near me.

I’m also learning that healing is personal responsibility. What happened to me may not have been my fault, but what I do with my life is still my choice. I can stay bound to old patterns, old fears, and other people’s opinions—or I can step into freedom, one decision at a time.

Sometimes I only see the next step. But that step is enough. Seeking is how I keep moving forward, and in Christ my mind stays anchored—not floating, not forced, not controlled.

Prompts

  • Where have you accepted an “offer” simply because it was offered, not because it aligned with your future?

  • What does “no” protect in your life right now—peace, dignity, boundaries, calling?

  • When you look back, what shifted when you started believing God wanted better for you?

  • What words have you tolerated that sounded flattering but were actually disrespectful?

  • What is one next step you can take this week toward freedom—practically and spiritually?
