Aroma

Does my sweet aroma please you
Tease you
Make you fall to your knees with wonder?
Wondering if the experience will be everything you fantasize?
You fan the size of your lies
That seem to have made you blind and fall deaf to my stare
Cause I still said no
You heard me though right?
There's no miscommunication
Excommunicate yourself from the thought of my thighs
Glide your eyes to a different part of my body
I do not bend for you
Merely thought maybe I could lend my heart to you
But I already know I wont get it back in one piece
I can picture you breaking it off piece by piece until there is nothing left and I cannot be apart of your detrimental regime
I am not the woman for you to practice all your self hate
Self wait
Cause that's what you want me to do
Wait until you're a betta manz still
Still like riva wata
Quiva and sorta laugh
Let me move out of your gaze
To weigh the cost of this mistake
You only see sex
I only want love
Woven through the tapestries of complexities
You are not who I thought you were
Your lust for pussy has your mind divided
You tried it

Now I'm forced to walk away

Reflection and Context

This piece was written from the tension between being desired and being seen. It reflects the moment when attention, attraction, and fascination were mistaken for emotional safety and intention. Beneath the surface of being admired was the quiet realization that lust can mimic intimacy while offering none of its care, protection, or depth.

The poem speaks from the place of a woman learning to distinguish between someone who wants access to her body and someone who is capable of honoring her heart. It captures the clarity that comes when boundaries must be spoken plainly, when “no” is not confusion but wisdom, and when walking away becomes an act of self-preservation rather than loss.

Reflection Prompt

Have you ever felt desired but not truly valued?

What does it look like for you to require love that honors both your body and your heart, rather than settling for attention that only consumes?
