Dear DMD
How I wonder who yu are
How true yu are
My little star
Started as an egg
Then yu grew
I was livin in denial
No thoughts in my head or my body
Through and through
Neva wanted to believe
That with that man I did conceive
Such a precious little seed which was you
9 months later yu took a breath of air
Born to one parent only and I kno it’s not fair
How dare that sperm donor not even care
He brought life to this world yu ain’t no teddy bear you’re a boy soon to be a man
My lil man mommas yur biggest fan in life
So do what's right an succeed
Take heed
Don't let my heart bleed
From yu makin foolish mistakes
Everythin I do is to open up gates for you to choose
Twinkle twinkle little star how I wonder what you are
How I wonder who yu are
How true yu are
My little star
Read read baby boy yu need to read
Feed feed baby feed yur mind
Weed weed boy stay away from the weed
No matta how bad things are your gonna be jus fine
Read read baby boy yu must read
Feed feed baby don't starve yur mind
Weed weed boy drop that weed
As long as yu have God you'll be jus fine
Twinkle twinkle little star how I wonder what you are
How I wonder who yu are How true yu are
Twinkle twinkle little star baby boy you are my star
Sent from only God above
Born with mighty mighty love
Twinkle twinkle little star you're exactly what I wished for and I'm blessed.
Reflection & Context
This piece was written from the heart of a mother speaking life over her son — in the middle of uncertainty, single-parenthood, and unanswered questions, yet anchored in faith and fierce love. It carries the tenderness of watching a child grow while also feeling the weight of responsibility, protection, and prayer.
It reflects the instinct to guide, to warn, to encourage, and to believe in the greatness placed inside a child even when circumstances are not ideal. At its core, this poem is a blessing — a declaration of love, hope, and destiny spoken over a son who is seen not as a mistake, but as a miracle, a gift, and a promise.
Reflection Prompt
What words of life and hope have been spoken over you — or still need to be spoken?
Who are you called to nurture, protect, and believe in, even when the journey feels heavy?
