Excerpt
I really believed God was asking me to move, and everything seemed to line up — conversations, confirmations, people sharing stories that felt connected to what I was praying about. I told my church, left my job, said my goodbyes, and even bought my ticket in faith, trusting that if God wanted me to go, He would make a way.
But when I got to the airport and couldn’t board because of travel restrictions, I realized God was stopping me. And suddenly I was back home, trying to understand how I could be so sure, take all those steps, and still end up with a closed door. I was left asking, “Okay God… so what now?”
Reflection
I’ve learned that faith isn’t proven only when doors open. Sometimes faith is trusting God even when the plan falls apart at the last minute. I stepped forward with everything I had, believing He was leading me, and when it didn’t work, I had to wrestle with disappointment without losing trust.
What stayed with me was this: God didn’t shame me, and nothing was wasted. The obedience, the preparation, the courage to step out — all of it was still part of the journey. Sometimes God redirects, not because we failed, but because He sees further than we do.
Prompts for Reflection
• Have I ever taken a step of faith that didn’t turn out how I expected?
• How do I respond when plans fall apart after I’ve committed to them?
• Can I trust that a closed door may also be protection or redirection?
