I Wonder

And I wonder if yu ever think of me like I think of you
This idea of us is like blue watermelon
Too good to be true
Swallow the flesh and spit out the seeds
Seeds are what hurt the most
Need you to see the greed of you taking the lead in silence
While I cry violent tears of hope lost in the weeds of life
And I wonder if I should give in to the strife or let this love live like the blue watermelon cut with this knife.
We can control our words but not always the actions that come from it

When we sit and think about the journey
Maybe this love is the type that
When I walk away you yern for it

Reflection & Context

This piece was written from the tension between longing and clarity — the place where hope and disappointment coexist in the same breath. It reflects the ache of loving someone who is emotionally distant, the pain of unspoken truths, and the quiet realization that sometimes absence becomes the loudest form of presence.

The metaphor of the blue watermelon holds the contradiction: beauty and sweetness on the outside, seeds of hurt on the inside. It captures the moment of recognizing that desire alone is not enough to sustain connection, and that walking away can awaken what staying could not.

Reflection Prompt

Where are you holding onto the sweetness of what could be, while ignoring the seeds of what is?

What would it look like to trust your clarity instead of your longing?.
