Mother's Love

A mother’s love is greater than any ocean that flows
Deeper than any addiction that knows how to hold on without letting go
Slowly holding that fragile human being that was just created
Crying tears of blessings mixed with emotions of joy and fear
Will I be a good enough role model throughout the years?
The fear of motherhood so often
Ignored
The journey of love so readily restored
Mere seconds pass feeling like an eternity of gratitude tinged with the attitude of acceptance
Confidently repeating ‘I will always love you faithful and true’ ‘I will always love and protect the truest of you ’
I gave birth to the best piece of me
Releasing great potential God trusted me to be
the nurturer of greatness
The earthly problem solver
The all around doctor
Providing stability not fragility
A Mother and a child have the ability to
grow together
Laugh together
Cry together
Try together
this journey of motherhood was a blessing to me
Taught me many lessons that only experiences held key
a mother’s love runs free yet never ceases
to be
Deeper than a grave
Love always

Reflection & Context

This piece was written in the awe and vulnerability of becoming a mother — standing in the space between overwhelming love and the quiet fear of whether I would be enough. It reflects the realization that motherhood is not just about nurturing a child, but about being reshaped, softened, strengthened, and entrusted with a life that mirrors your own heart back to you.

It holds the understanding that love, in its purest form, is protective, patient, and enduring. That to mother is to become a refuge, a healer, a teacher, and a witness to growth. This poem honors the sacred responsibility of being chosen to guide another soul, and the grace of learning alongside the one you are raising.

Reflection Prompt

Where in your life have you been entrusted with love that requires both tenderness and strength?

What does it mean for you to love in a way that protects, nurtures, and allows growth — both in others and in yourself?
